Chris Collora reports on Southampton Author Phil Keith’s book tour promoting “Black Horse Riders”, a true story about Vietnam Veterans of the 11th Armored Calvary Blackhorse Regiment who were finally recognized for their valor in a battle and rescue operation they were involved in over 40 years ago.
Phil: I was with Charlie co. 2/8 in this battle. Thank you for writing about our experience and the battle we faced when we came home. Many are uable to talk about the horrors of war but you where able to explain it to the public. Richard Hokenson
Mr. Keith,
I just finished your book Black Horse Riders,, for the 3rd time.
What a great book sir! I am so glad that Captain Pointdexter corrected our history with the details of the battle. Military history being my hobby made this book a great surprise in my readings.
With your writing I can see the relief on the Charlie company faces, as the armor entered their lines, And then the amazement on both the Charlie company faces and the NVA faces as Captain Pointdexter advanced his armor and moved the battle line into the NVA’s position. I’m sure the NVA commander was very disappointed!
However, I do have a question. Is there a sketch of the battle field? The area appears to be 14 or 15 bunkers wide, could it be 120 meters wide? How deep was the complex? Any information would be appreciated.
Again, one of the best books I have ever read.
Sincerely
